Restoring the stonework

You will be aware that the work on the Watch House which was postponed over the 'bad weather' period has now restarted and will continue into approximately early June.

The inappropriate pointing in the stone joints is in the process of removal and the very skilled work of replacing the eroded stonework has started.

This is quite a noisy process using hammers and drills which will be evident both inside and outside until this phase is completed. Some of the scaffolding is back to give access to the higher levels. With all this noise, dust and stone debris, please be aware - if you are using the building - of any potential hazards. The Watch House will be briefly closed (for about a week) in early May due to this work on the stone and on the window at the street end of the building. Once we reopen, while the window is being worked on, we will only have the sink and kettle available for events, and no access to microwave, fridge, and many kitchen utensils. This will last about a month.
