Sad news: Michael Moreland RIP
We have some sad news to share with the Cullercoats community.
Our dear friend Michael Moreland has passed away, having slipped away peacefully on Sunday 6th August aged 87 years.
Michael joined the Watch House committee around 2006 and became a director and trustee in March 2011 and then became Chairman in May 2014 following Peter Fairbairn’s retirement. Michael stood down as chairman in 2019 and the role was passed to Frank Taylor.
As a retired solicitor Michael used his professional skills to secure the legal title to the Watch House Building for the charity, a process which was considerably time-consuming for him but for which we as a charity are most indebted.
Michael was also part of the management committee at Cullercoats Lifeboat Station for many years.
He remained a good friend to the Watch House and he will be sadly missed by us all for his sound advice and his unique dry sense of humour.
Funeral arrangements TBC.
